A former nurse is suing Cameron (Missouri) Regional Medical Center for back pay, future pay, and lost benefits, alleging she was fired because of her age.

The hospital terminated 56-year-old Linda Young, last November after 14 years of employment. At the time the nursing director informed her that Young would not want the only available position was for a night obstetrics nurse. According to Young’s suit, the following day she met with the hospital administrator who said people are fired for no reason once they reach a certain age at some organizations.

Young also alleges that she was told she was being cut for budget purposes, yet no other nurses were fired. She also claims that the night obstetrics position was not posted when she was fired and she was never offered another position.
