    How can nurse managers ensure that new staff members absorb and apply the new behaviors and skills learned during their preceptorships and orientation? This form gives you a tool to help your staff set goals for skills they want to improve, and provides a framework for both of you (and the preceptor, if the preceptorship is ongoing), to identify objectives and milestones.

    Have staff select the objectives that are most important to them and complete an action plan for each one. If appropriate, review the plan with the assigned preceptor or educator.
